Civil Earthworks Services in Adelaide

Get the Ground Right and Everything Above It Lasts

Civil earthworks services in Adelaide are the stage nobody sees once the job is finished — and the stage that decides whether it holds up. Slabs crack, driveways sink and pavements fail far more often because of poor ground preparation than because of the concrete itself. Adelaide's reactive clay soils make that doubly true: get the cut, the fill and the drainage right, and the surface above stays where you put it.

We handle earthworks packages for residential builds, subdivisions, commercial car parks and infrastructure jobs across the metro area — site cuts and benching, bulk cut-and-fill, engineered fill placed and compacted in layers, sub-grade and road base preparation, batters, retaining footings and full stormwater drainage. Levels are set off your engineer's drawings and checked as we go, spoil is balanced on site where it can be, and everything is trimmed to tolerance so the next trade can start without rework.

Our Earthworks Process

1. Survey, Levels & Planning

We set levels off your plans or engineer's drawings, mark out the work area, and confirm where services, easements and boundaries sit before any machine moves.

2. Clearing & Bulk Earthworks

Vegetation, topsoil and obstructions are stripped, then cut-and-fill work brings the site to the design levels with spoil balanced on site where possible.

3. Fill, Trimming & Compaction

Engineered fill is placed in layers and compacted to spec, then the surface is trimmed to a tight tolerance ready for footings, slab or pavement.

4. Drainage & Site Finishing

Stormwater lines, pits, soakwells and surface falls are set so water moves away from structures instead of pooling on the finished site.

Where Civil Earthworks Are Needed

From a single house pad through to a full subdivision, the principles are the same — correct levels, compacted fill and water that goes where it's meant to.

Residential Builds

Site cuts, benching and pad preparation for new homes, granny flats, sheds and extensions.

Subdivisions

Bulk earthworks, access roads and drainage across multi-lot developments and infill sites.

Car Parks & Hardstands

Formation, sub-base and drainage for commercial car parks, yards and heavy vehicle hardstands.

Retaining & Batters

Cut batters, retaining wall footings and level changes shaped to hold ground safely.

Drainage Works

Stormwater lines, pits, headwalls and soakwells installed as part of the civil package.

Road & Kerb Formation

Sub-grade preparation, road base placement and kerb line formation for access ways and driveways.

Why Earthworks Quality Matters

Uncompacted fill settles. Poor falls pond water against footings. Both problems surface months after the concrete has cured, when fixing them means pulling the surface back up. Doing it properly the first time costs a fraction of doing it twice.

Levels set and checked against engineering drawings, so slabs and pavements start on ground that is actually to spec

Cut-and-fill balanced on site wherever possible, cutting cartage costs and truck movements

Layered, compacted engineered fill — the only way to avoid settlement and cracking down the track

Stormwater and drainage designed into the earthworks rather than patched on afterwards

Sediment control and site management that keeps mud off the road and keeps you compliant

One crew from bulk earthworks through to the finished concrete, so nothing gets lost between trades

Fully licensed and insured, working to Australian standards and your engineer's specification, with compaction testing arranged where the job calls for it.
